Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde der Galerie Hans Mayer,

zum Jahresende möchten wir Sie nicht nur mit herzlichen Weihnachtsgrüßen erreichen, sondern zugleich noch einmal einige Veränderungen in diesem Jahr zusammenfassen, die für uns eine bedeutende Zäsur darstellen.

Nach mehreren hochinteressanten, selbst mit Corona-Problematiken vitalen Jahren, sind wir in diesem Sommer aus unseren Galerie Räumen im Schmela Haus ausgezogen. Und in diesem Dezember geben wir unsere ländliche Dependance im Hof Pesch auf, die Familie Mayer verlässt damit auch ihr Zuhause: vier Jahrzehnte gehen damit zu Ende, die das Zusammenwirken dieses alten Hofes mit der dort ausgestellten Kunst zum Leuchten brachten.

Dennoch setzt die Galerie ihre Tätigkeit fort: sei es in Form von Pop-up Ausstellungen an unterschiedlichen Orten oder auch in unserem Showroom in Düsseldorf Heerdt. Auch das Büro dort arbeitet wie gewohnt weiter.

Wir alle sind für Sie ab dem 06.01.26 erneut erreichbar und freuen uns auf hoffentlich auch in Zukunft rege Kommunikation gleich welcher Art mit Ihnen.

Jetzt möchten wir Ihnen in dieser Zeit des Übergangs von Herzen gesegnete Weihnachten wünschen – sowie ein hoffentlich friedvolleres Jahr als das vergangene. Wir danken Ihnen für Ihre Verbundenheit, Ihr Vertrauen und die gemeinsamen Momente im Zeichen der Kunst!

Dear friends of Galerie Hans Mayer,

As the year draws to a close, we would like to send you our warmest Christmas greetings and summarize some of the changes that have taken place this year, which represent a significant turning point for us.

After several highly interesting years, which remained vibrant even amid the challenges of the pandemic, we moved out of our gallery space in the Schmela Haus this summer. And this December, we are giving up our rural branch in Hof Pesch, which also means that the Mayer family is leaving their home: this marks the end of four decades that saw the interaction between this old farmstead and the art exhibited there shine brightly.

Nevertheless, the gallery will continue its activities, whether in the form of pop-up exhibitions at various locations or in our showroom in Düsseldorf Heerdt. The office there will also continue to operate as usual.
We will all be available to you again from January 6, 2026, and look forward to continuing our lively communication with you in the future, whatever form that may take.

Now, in this time of transition, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas – and a year that we hope will be more peaceful than the last. We thank you for your loyalty, your trust, and the moments we have shared in the name of art!

The Hans Mayer Gallery started with a Josef Albers show in 1965 and concentrated on constructivist art in the following years. Since 1971 Hans Mayer is based in Düsseldorf. In the 1970s, 80s and 90s the gallery program expanded continuously. In 1969 Hans Mayer was the first to show Andy Warhol in Düsseldorf. The gallery added American artists such as Frank Stella, Ellsworth Kelly, Bill Beckley, Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein and Tom Wesselmann. In 1990 Nam June Paik joined the gallery. Representatives of a younger generation, including Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Robert Longo and Tony Oursler followed. European art is represented by C.O. Paeffgen, Ben Willikens, Markus Oehlen and Jürgen Klauke. Apart from gallery exhibitions, Hans Mayer deals in European and American art after 1945. The gallery is also specialized in large outdoor sculptures and since its beginning famous for it’s crossover creative activities such as concerts, theatre, fashion shows and dance.
